(1)Have a  Curriculum

Formulating a curriculum is very important. You can definitely use a calendar and mark all the important dates. 

  • Mark all important exam schedule appointments 
  • Set Sunday each week to create a weekly schedule 
  • Also mark appointments when you have other commitments (such as extracurricular activities or family outings) 

The planning process seems time-consuming but only lasts 15 minutes a week. It is a wise investment of your time because you will be productive the rest of the week. More importantly, always stick to the curriculum. Over time, it helps to be disciplined.

 

(2) Avoid cramming the subject

 Many students have a habit of studying at the last minute by getting up all night just before a test day! By studying in this way, information is stored in short-term memory that is easy to forget. (3) You must have a designated study area 

 It is very important to have a designated study area for your study session to be successful. Avoid all possible distractions. 

 

  • Create a clear study area/table 
  •  Study for 25 minutes and take a 5-minute break  and continue studying for 25 minutes 
  •  Inform family members of your study time so they don’t interrupt you. 
  •  When taking a break, take a  walk or eat a healthy snack, but avoid watching TV. 
  •  When you are studying, do not try to multitask as it will decrease your productivity. Many students have the habit of studying and eating. Don’t do two things at the same time.

 

(4) Learning Techniques 

There are many proven learning techniques that can help you better understand and remember a concept. 

Pomodoro Technique: It is a time management technique that uses a timer to divide into intervals. Use a timer to set study times. Traditionally, this technique involves  25 minutes of study, followed by a short 5-minute break, and then continuing the learning for 25 minutes with a 5-minute break. This learning technique has been shown to improve mental alertness.

Mnemonic Technique: This is a learning technique that helps retain information in human memory. This technique helps to store information in a form that the brain can store better than the original form. There are few  known examples of memory techniques 

Remember the colours of a rainbow-like VIBGYOR: The number of days in each month can be remembered by numbering them on the knuckles

 

(5) Take Care of Yourself 

Many students have a bad habit of skipping meals or overeating when the test approaches. Few complain of feeling sleepy and exhausted after changing their usual routine to learn more. This affects the physical health of a student.

 

  • Sleep for 8 hours 
  • Make sure you get 8 hours of sleep, as this will give your brain adequate rest, increasing productivity. 
  • Eat a healthy diet 
  • A good night’s sleep also includes good food. Eat healthy foods and eat them regularly. Avoid consuming processed and junk foods and only eat healthy foods. 
  • Exercise helps improve memory and thinking skills. You can do physical exercise or do yoga. Help refresh your mind.

 

(6) Video Learning 

E-learning has many advantages. Many studies have shown that video learning helps people remember concepts better. Learning can be more fun with video learning as it uses graphics and animations to help you easily remember difficult concepts.

 

(7) Eliminate doubts immediately 

 Many students wait up to a week before the exam to resolve their doubts, which generates panic. Even if you think your doubts are stupid, resolve them immediately.
